RCFC - unqualified SFP on 3PAR

We have two 3PAR 8 km far from each other. we wanted to connect them to run SRM. so we bought 4 Long-wave SFP (AJ717). as i plugged in the 3PAR says the sfp is unqualified and after configuring port as RCFC nothing has happened.
how two 3PAR should be connected for RCFC?

(we use blade system and RCIP now )

This is an area I don't have much experience in... long wave fibre... however, I have tried to direct connect my T800's together directly with SW... and it is not supported... you must go through a switch... hence... I do believe the answer to your question will be that you are required to use a SAN switch/device for the LW connection.

Yes, you must use san switch for RCFC.

However the problem shifted on brocade San Switch :evil:

Why use RCFC for that distance rather than RCIP? We used FC replication with IBM storage and hated it because you can not use WAN accelerators on FC based replication it causes issues. We use RCIP on the 3par and Cisco accelerators on average 3X+ improvement in bandwidth so our 300mb pipsp usually performs like a 1gb pipe. Don't get me wrong RCIP has its share of issues, but they are minor compared the the benefits of accelerations.

the most imoportant reason that we i went for RCFC was synchronization.
I really need to estimate how much bandwidth i need for Remote copy.

I've set this up for peer persistence and as mentioned, you use the standard sfps in the e3par and then use the switches to do the long range bit, so you need the correct LR SFPs for the brocade switches.

Works perfectly, the LR SFPs are quite expensive, plus when going over a certain distance you need an extra license on the brocade switches too to make them go extra long range.
