How to factory reset 3PAR 8000e?

Post by fl4 »

I am grateful to find this community, its not easy getting one of these running.

I have an 8000e 24 bay enclosure, how do you factory reset this system? I see posts about administration, how do you get into the unit to look at it? Currently it says things like "08" on it, I would like to start from 0.

First of all, there is no 8000e. In the 8000 series there are 8200, 8400, 8440 and 8450.

That being said, you need a serial connection to the nodes to reset it and login using "console" user. If the system is running an old 3PAR OS version, the password is fixed and easily available thru a google search. If the system is running a current 3PAR OS version you need to contact HPE Support to get a valid password as it is a dynamic password that rotates every hour.

Also. remember to extract the license before resetting it.

I thinks he has only extension cage and not controller cage. In that case, there is nothing to reset and you don't have 3PAR system, but only disk shelf
