3Par 7400 Controller replacement failed

Post by agree »

Hello,

I have an old 3par 7400 4-node system and one of the controllers (node 2) went off. I got a new one, I edited all the values from the whack (prom edit, prom hp edit, set perm sys_serial) and I performed a node-to-node rescue procedure with the startnoderescue -node 2 command.
The OS is upgraded in the controller, the controller is booted as serial-2 in the hostname, no error in the console but is not joining the cluster.
In the showalert I am getting the following:

Id : 43
State : New
Message Code: 0x01a001c
Time : 2025-06-07 11:16:24 EEST
Severity : Major
Type : Link establish alert
Message : Node 3 Failed to establish link to Node 2 from Node 3 link 3

Any inisghts on this? The node 3 and Node 2 are not supposed to be interconnected with the interconnection cables. So what is the Node 3 link 3 connection? Is any virtual(inside) connection?

Nodes within the node pair is connected thru the backplane of the node chassis.

I would connect a serial cable to node 2 and collect the output as it boots.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. I attach the boot log. I didn't find any useful log there.
