hp 3par 7200 default ip

Post by agree »

hi,

i assigned an ip address to vsp from 192.168.x.x block but in 'storage system setup wizard' i am getting the error '...make sure the sp is on the same network as the specified storage system.' in which netwok(subnet) is storage server by default?

thanks! :D

I don't believe it has any IP configured at all until you connect to the console port and configure it as such.

Make sure the subnet the 7200 is plugged into has DHCP running, and either let the SP get a address in the same range, or statically assign one.

After setup you can set them both to whatever you'd like (don't need to keep DHCP running if you don't want)

Defaulting to DHCP assigned is always an unusual choice - who ever has a DHCP server in the datacentre - on their storage network?

Does the SmartStart CD try to do any sort of mac address broadcasting for initial setup? I never used it, but reading the instructions says something about needing to be on the same subnet as the new hardware... reminded me of how HP Jet Direct cards are/used to be discovered and configured.
