either have my java script turned

How do you turn java script on ? yesterday i saw that when i go to youtube that the videos are not playing,it keep saying that i either have my java script turned of or i have an old version of the adobe flash player and i downloaded the java thing from its website but its still doing the same thing,what else should i do ?
