Remote Copy between StoreServ 7400 and 8400

Post by crazy69 »

Hi guys,

is it possible to establish a remote copy between a 7400 and a 8400 to migrate data?
If yes, is it possible with FC and IP?
My preffered option would be FC.

Is there anything else to have take care about?

Yes, you can replicate between different 3PAR models. There is a support matrix, but as long as both have fairly the same 3PAR OS versions, you’re good to go.
Yes, both RCIP and RCFC is available.
Yes, you could use it for migration..... but.... RC requires that both systems are licensed for remote copy. If I were you, I would look at Peer Motion which is designed for migration. You only need license for the recieving array and it is included in the All-Inclusive license for 3PAR 8k,9k,20k systems. Other positive things with Peer Motion is that most migrations are fully online and it will keep a copy at the source array if something were to happen during migration.
