Folks
Need a little help here I have a 3PAR FC switch 1 and 3PAR FC switch 2 connected to a cisco 2960 as an access port.
The cisco port connect to switch 2 is reporting " Line Protocol down"
where as FAC switch 1 never has a issue, what could be causing FC switch 2 to cause a Line Protocl down ?
I have turn of BPDU , but have notice ICMP IPV6 packet on the interface

Hello RVanstone,
What do you mean by "3PAR FC Switch"?
Are you referring to management ports on a HP-Brocade Fibre switch?
Or are you referring to the management ports on 2 nodes of a storage system?
If by "FC switch" you mean the "nodes" of 3PAR storage, maybe its because the 2 nodes operate in a cluster, perhaps its a situation of 1 port active, 1 port standby.

By 3PAr FC switch
I mean the HP-Brocade Fibre switch, there are 2 switches configured and only switch 2 bouncing the interface every hour.
I have done a sniffer trace and found at that excat time the is an IPV6 Neighbor solicitation and a router solocitation with the source mac being the HP-Brocade node 0 management port. I have a total of 4 sistes and only 2 of the sites is exhibiting this issue

Turns out that the port bouncing has nothing to do with IPV^ packets received, here is the HP tech support answer
"The 1hour interval of link up/down on non active ethernet nodes is related to the Service Processor (SP) will call spcollect status every 3600 seconds or roughly every hour.
In order for checkhealth to effectively check the status of the managment ethernet ports on the nonactive nodes it will temporarily bounce the interface, check what it needs to check then provide the status as a part of the send-home data collections. These can safely be ignored"

Whats confusing, is that you said this was a FC switch issue, however, based on your answer from HP and a recent experience with my own network team, I think you meant ethernet switch.
I can confirm that the storage node's management port (1gE) connection to the ethernet switch has 1 port active, and 1 port standby, and every hour is pops on and off again, presumably for the health check.
